Portsmouth City Council
At Portsmouth City Council we're all about developing our staff, because we want to build a bigger and better city but we need the best employees to do so.
With a little over 207,000 residents and 7,000 businesses throughout this city, this unitary authority's main goal is to ensure the best care and development of all those within the city. From customer service to multi-million pound projects, our residents are at the heart of everything we do.
Stopping the start - creating a smoke free generation
Local stop smoking services have been awarded extra funding support over the next five financial years until 2028-2029 to help stop the start and create a smoke free generation.
This provides an exciting opportunity for the Wellbeing Service to expand its team to help us ensure there is a comprehensive offer to help people stop smoking and to increase the number of smokers engaging with effective interventions to quit smoking. In Portsmouth we aim to achieve this by:
- Stimulating more quit attempts by providing more smokers with advice and swift support.
- Linking smokers to the most effective interventions to quit.
- Boosting existing behavioural support schemes designed to encourage smokers to quit and
- Building capacity in local areas to respond to increased demand.
- Strengthening partnerships in the Health & Care Portsmouth system and link to the Smoke Free Portsmouth - Tobacco Control Plan.
This role will be fundamental in helping Portsmouth to achieve our smoke free plan.
