• As a children’s Residential Support Worker, you will work as part of a residential childcare team providing support for the children and young people with their physical, emotional, and social needs with an emphasis on promoting their personal growth and independence.

Are you looking for a new and exciting opportunity to join our Clinical Services team?

The Clinical Service team in the Together Trust is at an exciting time of development. This post offers the unique opportunity to join a newly established Psychology Service and to work systemically in multi-disciplinary teams to contribute to trust wide and externally commissioned initiatives and support the needs of individual pupils.

In this role you will be working in Specialist Together Trust settings.

You will draw on knowledge and expertise in neurodiversity and work closely with settings that support learners with autism and social communication differences. You will work with pupils with significant social and emotional needs and the teams around them, using trauma-informed practice. You will support the needs of learners with complex learning and developmental needs, and you will have opportunities to work in other settings on externally commissioned projects across the region, including work in mainstream and community settings.

You will work in a variety of ways through training, problem-solving and collaborative consultation and advice and support to teachers, parents/carers, SENCOs, the wider community, as well as children and young people. You will be able to build relationships with those you support, take a reflective approach and work in cycles of ‘assess, plan, do review’ to achieve the best outcomes for children and young people. You will use psychological assessment and produce reports to contribute to an understanding of a child’s needs and work in collaboration with others to develop shared and person-centred plans of support.

You will be supported by and will support a small team of Educational Psychologists and Assistant Psychologists using formal and informal supervision, and you will be able to shape and contribute to the development of a service that is inclusive and celebratory of the experiences of the thoughts and ideas people bring. Opportunities for professional development and project development with universities as well as participation in charity and community focussed activity will be supported.

• Administrative duties as required to ensure the efficient provision of the service, including setting up case files, ordering resources, attending meetings, taking and distributing minutes.
• Networking with people we support and commissioners to positively promote engagement with Together Trust services. This may include liaising with school SENCOs and GP practices.
• Managing a sign-out/return system for off-site use of resources within the TSS Team.
• Booking parents onto sleep workshops, inviting them to attend monthly coffee mornings and providing supportive listening.
• Giving advice to parents/professionals on appropriate support services.
• Working closely with TSS colleagues in the preparation of materials and resources to be used for therapeutic purposes and for training, e.g. visual resources, sleep programmes.
• Preparing resource packs for parents and professionals to a high standard.

• Educated to GCSE or NVQ Level 3
• Excellent numeracy and literacy skills
• Experience of supporting families who have children with additional needs, including knowledge and understanding of Autism spectrum conditions and the impact on young people and their families.
• Experience of working in an office-based environment.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and various IT systems.
• Ability to work independently and manage own workload
• Understanding the significance of safeguarding and demonstrating a personal commitment to safeguarding.

About the position….

• As a Children’s Residential Support Worker, you will be attending to the needs of the children, planning activities considering that some of the Children and Young People may have additional and sometimes complex health needs.
• Working on your own initiative and as part of a team, you will be to preparing and assisting the young people to fulfil the aims of their person-centred plan. You will support the Children and Young People with communication working closely as a team that has a passion to improve their lives whilst in our care.
• You will work flexibly to undertake the full range of duties in a well-planned way that respects and values the Children and Young People as individuals.
