The Opportunity

Following on from the success of Hinkley Point C (HPC), the SZC Project is a nuclear new build project in Suffolk, which has obtained planning approval and Government financing support. The project has started construction and is now seeking private investment. When completed, it will provide dependable electricity to 6 million homes for 60 years, which along with renewables, will support Britain to achieve Net Zero by 2050.
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Site Pre-Construction Lead to spearhead the pre-construction efforts for the Sizewell C project. This is your chance to lead a multidisciplinary team in planning and initiating the development of a state-of-the-art nuclear power plant.
Your Mission
As the Site Pre-Construction Lead reporting to the Site Delivery Director, you will be at the forefront of developing comprehensive project strategies and plans with colleagues across all delivery programmes. You’ll manage and direct a high-performing team, ensuring collaboration and excellence across all pre-construction activities. Your role will be crucial in preparing and integrating project strategies and plans to meet the project’s objectives of delivering safely, quality to the required schedule and cost objectives.
What You'll Do
Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement project management and construction support strategies to ensure the delivery of Sizewell C on time, within budget, and to the highest safety and quality standards.
Team Management: Lead and build a high-performing team, defining clear roles, responsibilities, and delivery accountabilities.
Collaboration: Foster a collaborative environment between pre-construction programme teams, design teams, and supply chain partners to achieve the best project outcomes.
Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as the primary point of contact for pre-construction, maintaining strong relationships and ensuring clear, effective communication.
Safety Focus: Prioritize safety in all pre-construction activities, ensuring adherence to Nuclear Safety and Industrial Safety standards.
Progress Monitoring: Track and report on project progress, managing risks and resolving issues to keep the project on schedule.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with regulatory needs through all pre-construction activities.
What You Bring
Proven experience in developing plans and strategies for the delivery of major complex infrastructure projects in regulated environments plus:
Expertise: In-depth knowledge of Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) activities, particularly in a highly regulated, nuclear environment.
Experience: Extensive experience in delivering large, complex construction projects, with a strong understanding of NEC and FIDIC contracts.
Leadership: Proven ability to build and manage diverse, high-performing teams in an integrated team environment.
Technical Skills: Knowledge of piping system design, installation, testing, and pressure systems regulations.
Qualifications: Degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent experience.
