The opportunity

We’re looking for an experienced Engineer to work with us on ensuring plant safety and equipment reliability of our plant, developing short to long-term improvement plans and defining the maintenance policy on assigned systems. As a System Engineer, you’ll also be working on how the demands on your system change and the development and implementation of modifications to the plant and safety case. The role is based on site at the power station.

Pay, benefits and culture

The salary range associated with this role is between £40,069
- £84,892, however the starting salary for this appointment will be within the range of £54,391
- £84,892 and you’ll be appointed based on the parameters outlined in the Company Agreement as well as your existing salary, competence, experience and qualifications.

What you’ll be doing

Each day will vary in this role, so you’ll need to adapt to changing circumstances. Some of the roles and responsibilities will include:

- Defining the maintenance and management strategy of plant systems
- Carrying out inspections and assessments on station assets and regular reliability reviews
- Managing the equipment reliability and maintenance policy, ensuring that compliance is achieved in line with the highest safety standards
- Identifying potential risks on the station and defining the need for investment in plant systems.

Who you are
Your self-motivated, positive attitude will ensure you can work under your own initiative to drive the asset improvement strategy for your designated systems. You will be trained as to why nuclear is special and be required to demonstrate the highest standards of nuclear professionalism and safety. Your strength in communication skills will ensure complex information is conveyed in a simple and concise way to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, where you’ll need to adapt your style and content for the audience.As a minimum, you will have a relevant HNC (or equivalent) and it may be advantageous if you have a relevant degree and already hold or are working towards Chartered Engineer Status. The company will provide mentoring and support for you to achieve chartership. Previous experience in an Engineering role is required, with a background in a regulated high hazard environment or similar industry would be desirable, but not essential.

The opportunity

As our HR Coordinator you will support the Central HR team by providing professional and proactive coordination and support to enable the implementation of the business’ people plan to improve business area or function performance. You will have an excellent opportunity to work across the HR spectrum by supporting several HR departments covering areas such as business operations, support functions, the talent team, and major programmes, as a result there will be multi-stakeholder relationships to manage.

This role is based at our Gloucester Business Park office, with a minimum of 2 days in the officer per week.

What you’ll be doing

Within this role, you will:

HR Coordination


- Support with the smooth running of the Nuclear Decommissioning HR team which will include co-ordination of meeting schedules with multi-stakeholders, developing meeting packs and tracking programme activities/performance.
- Update project plans and support the identification of appropriate actions and risks to the HRBP Project Manager.


- Support the delivery of identified people programme activities as required.
- Coordinate training compliance across HR ensuring HR Post & Training Profiles are updated as required and training completion prompted across the HR function liaising with the Fleet HR Manager for operations sites.
- Coordinate multi-HR team activities and requests including diary management and travel arrangements.
- Support in the production of reports and information carrying out ad hoc data analysis more widely across the HR teams as required.
- Ensure HR Policies and Procedures are updated liaising with the Document Centre and Employee Relations on behalf of the Fleet HR Manager as required to ensure reviews are completed on time.
- Support the random Drug & Alcohol testing procedure on behalf of HR for Gloucester Business Park and 6 Atlantic Quay liaising with Occupational Health.
- Act as the single point of contact for HRBP’s and the central co-ordination team for the annual Employee Engagement Survey and Nuclear Safety Culture Survey to ensure accurate reporting across the central support functions.
- Support the annual agency renewals process for the Central HR team by tracking renewals and processing as required.
- Provide support to the HRBP’s in the delivery of the bi-annual People Talent Review (PTR) process.
- Support the monitoring of departmental budgets and the purchase and requisition of goods and services in HR, including but not limited to raising requisitions, tracking orders, making card payments, and maintaining budget spreadsheets, and coordinating excess travel payments with Employee Services
- Carry out troubleshooting on data issues, as required.


Other


- Provide coordination support for a variety of projects, survey roll outs, events and local training/awareness sessions’ both corporate and fleet wide, as appropriate.
- Fulfil the HR CAP evaluator role on and administer AMS on behalf of the central HR Team working with the Fleet HR Manager with regards to any queries
- Manage the Management of Change register on behalf of the CSF HR team.


Who you are

To be our HR Coordinator, you will have a proven ability to deliver high quality administrative and transactional support in a HR environment, possess and be able to demonstrate knowledge and proficient use of the Microsoft Office suite of applications and demonstrate a solutions focused mindset, with a proactive approach to work and professional work ethic.

You will be highly discreet with confidential information and demonstrates professionalism and respect for confidentiality with excellent attention to detail and accurate presentation of written information. You’ll be someone who possesses excellent organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise workload.

This role will report into the Head of Procurement and Contract Management and lead on providing comprehensive procurement support to development and construction activities for solar and battery storage projects. As a key figure of the procurement team, embedded within EDF R’s Central Technical Office Procurement Department, this is a key position in delivering end to end procurement support principally for Solar and Battery Projects.
What you’ll be doing
In this role you will balance a busy workload and ensure objectives are achieved on time without compromising governance, safety and quality standards.
The key challenges for the role will be to define, agree and execute value-driven commercial strategies (in conjunction with your business partners and wider stakeholders) whilst ensuring adequate procurement and commercial management resource is in place to play a key part of project delivery.
Principal accountabilities include:

- Developing and leading a team of procurement professionals .
- Initiating and implementing Solar and Battery project procurement/sourcing strategies and plans including obtaining buy-in from key internal stakeholders.
- Assessing and evaluating procurement risks (political, environment, technical, economic and legal) and developing appropriate procurement/commercial mitigation strategies.
- Leading procurement of goods and services for new projects and associated activities to agreed project and commercial objectives in line with governance and approved procedures.
- Develop category management expertise in consultation with key stakeholders to identify and promote new procurement opportunities for the business (e.g., new entrants, innovations, cost savings etc.) that generates improved commercial insights and value.
- Able to use and interpret market research/market intelligence.
- Identification, pre-qualification and qualification of suppliers.
- Lead on the evaluation of bids and co-ordinating inputs from the wider evaluation team (technical, legal, HSE).
- Negotiation and timely award of high value contracts for goods, works and services in consultation with the wider project team in in accordance with best-value and approved procedures.
- Auditing/reviewing compliance with approved procurement procedures, including participation in key supplier audits (where necessary).
- Performance management of supply chain to drive continuous improvement and optimal performance, including compiling and evaluating periodic procurement KPI reports.
- Managing procurement processes on business systems (e.g., SAP, iValua) and acting as a single point of reference for your business users.
- Promoting sustainable and ethical procurement in line with EDF R’s sustainability ambitions.
- Provide support to wider team objectives and technologies in the EDF-R portfolio, such as business planning, Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) and procurement systems development.

What do you need to be great at this role?

You’ll have considerable procurement experience coupled with Proven ability to conduct successful commercial negotiations with suppliers and educated to degree level or equivalent.

- Comprehensive knowledge of the principles of procurement, sourcing and contract management and a proven track record
- Experience of leading teams and support team development (e.g. towards CIPS or equivalent qualification(s))
- Experience in the renewables and/or construction industry would be advantageous but is not essential
- Experience in commercial administration of development and construction contracts and cost management.

What you'll be doing

You’ll carry out regular plant assessments, recommending an engineering programme of work for Station outages and maintenance as well as planning and working towards future operational strategy, proposing engineering plant modifications that will help in the long-term reliable, safe generation of power. You’ll also provide fault diagnosis and solutions for turbine, generator and other plant equipment.

Plant performance data will be assessed and analysed, utilising best practice, new innovative design and engineering solutions that you’ll propose and implement to support the Fleets engineering responses. You’ll contribute to departmental and Fleet wide Business Plans driving performance improvement throughout the Business.

You’ll provide technical oversight and become a signatory within the Quality Management System. You’ll also provide technical specifications and assessments for the supply of spares across the Fleet. A large part of your role will be focused on building and maintaining excellent relationships with all of our internal and external contractors.

Who you are

Ideally, you will have a minimum of 3 year’s experience working with large turbines, generators and their associated generation equipment alongside either a Degree or HND in a relevant Engineering subject. If you’re working towards or already part of a Professional Association that would be great (but not mandatory!).

You’ll have awareness of methodologies related to repair, refurbishment and modification ideally of Steam Turbines and Generators.

Past experience of adhering to Work Management processes and procedures would be advantageous as our environment is heavily regulated, with various site licence conditions, regulations and procedures in place to ensure safety for colleagues, the public and the environment.

What you’ll be doing… Within the Thermal Hydraulics Group, you will be responsible for assessing the performance of the primary and secondary reactor circuits and process control systems, considering how that may affect the design and operation of our nuclear power station. This may include:

- Providing temperature, pressure, flow and process control assessments to optimise performance and operational compliance of the reactor, core, boilers/steam generators and whole plant systems and individual components.
- Supporting safety cases and technical programmes where oversight of thermal-hydraulic steady-states and fault transients are key aspects.

What you’ll be doing…

You will work as part of a team to:


- Assess changes to fuel designs and manufacturing to ensure fuel components perform as desired in-reactor and during post irradiation handling. This can involve data at atomic level, right through to consideration of entire fuel assemblies.
- Interact with power station personnel to advise on and resolve issues involving irradiation, handling or storage of fuel, fuel components and core components.
- Write and verify safety cases to demonstrate the safety of the fuel, fuel components and core components.
- Review technical reports and engineering drawings submitted by suppliers for their acceptability to specification, quality and adequacy.
- Carry out calculations and also provide judgements to support all of the above.
- Interact with key stakeholders including the Fuel Vendors, Fuel Contract Managers, Office for Nuclear Regulation, the station Nuclear Safety Groups and Fuel Route Groups, and other senior company stakeholders.
- Keep up to date with industry research and operational experience in the fuel design discipline.
- Drive your own training and development, within our structured training arrangements.
- Attend, chair and/or act as secretary for various technical meetings and working groups.

The focus will be water reactors, with some AGR work likely.

Your background should include the following:


- Qualification or relevant experience in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science & Engineering, Applied Physics, or a complementary technical discipline.

In this role, you'll dive into the intricacies of safety cases and associated engineering substantiation, contributing to the overarching "barrier model" that safeguards our projects. Who you are…

We’re looking for you to hold a degree in a relevant science or engineering field, with a preference for Mechanical Engineering, and ideally possess Chartered Engineer status. Extensive experience in either working for or supporting a UK licensee is essential. You must demonstrate comprehensive expertise in designing or assessing mechanical equipment, including pumps, vessels, heat exchangers, valves, pipework, cranes, fuel handling equipment, and HVAC systems.

Additionally, you should have a strong background in evaluating the structural integrity of primary circuit components and possess knowledge of materials, material testing, welding, and non-destructive testing.

What you’ll be doing

In this role, you will:


- Manage and develop management reporting and financial processes, ensuring the delivery of timely, accurate and relevant financial information to senior finance team members, the divisional management team, the Nuclear Operations Board and EDF UK Corporate. This starts with the consolidation of entries from the SAP financial system and ends with the production of Company Accounts. The P&R senior manager is responsible for ensuring a strong control environment exists to avoid misstatement of accounts.
- Lead role in the interim and annual external audit of the Nuclear Operations business ensuring appropriate collaboration and influence with internal/external stakeholders to comply with accounting standards. Liaise with the External Audit Manager to ensure that the audit plan is understood and will communicate any changes since the previous audit including any significant risk areas e.g. change to useful life of an asset or suspension of capacity market and will provide the financial assessment of this and the appropriate accounting treatment. At times some of the contractual changes which impact the financial statements are complex and require detailed technical knowledge in order to account for appropriately e.g. ancillary contracts with National Grid and Carbon purchases.


- Lead in supporting the Nuclear Decommissioning finance team to ensure that financial reporting environment is accurate and relevant in order to enact prompt cost recovery from the Nuclear Liabilities Fund including lead role to ensure that reporting for cost recovery in the external environment is compliant with accounting standards.
- Lead the development of a robust internal control environment and be able to challenge existing finance processes where improvements are required.
- Lead the management of cash within a volatile market environment and acknowledging evolving nature of business as the Nuclear Assets reach end of life. Including forecasting, planning and consideration of liquidity including facilities (~£200m).
- Lead the divisional business planning and forecasting process for planning & reporting including providing challenge to BU business plans, working closely with both the Financial Strategy Senior Manager and Nuclear Operations Senior Finance Manager in this regard as well as collaborating with other relevant stakeholders in the delivery of the Business Plan including providing a lead role in the communication of the Nuclear Operations plan to EDF UK Corporate.
- Lead and manage the delivery of EDF UK Pension Scheme accounts including lead role in the annual external audit.
- Lead the Planning and Reporting and Pensions team to formulate and deliver team objectives and goals.
- Maintain and enhance relationships with other parts of the Nuclear Operations business and EDF UK business units (Customers and Corporate).
- Responsible for the management of within year investment reporting process.
- Fully engaging in the personal development of individuals within the team, ensuring all staff are appropriately trained for the post, strengthening business capability to drive optimal performance.
- Ensure ‘visions, value and ambitions” of the business are communicated to the team.


Who you are

For this role, you will be a Qualified Accountant with recognised professional organisation (e.g. CIMA, ICAS, ICAEW) or individual suitably qualified by experience with a background in the power sector, with a good understanding of the operational and commercial drivers of nuclear, coal, gas and renewable generation.

Experience in a finance post within a large organisation, analysing, influencing and improving business performance is ideal with sound commercial acumen, and the ability to challenge commercial arrangements with authority and respect. You’ll have a good understanding of the UK power market, a broad understanding of power station operations and excellent knowledge of International Accounting Standards and principles.

Strong technical accounting knowledge is essential including the preparation of financial statements and strong knowledge of pension accounting environment, You will have high levels of personal confidence, credibility, professionalism and integrity, with track record in demonstrating the ability to work closely with both Finance and non-Finance senior management. An expert in strategic planning, budgeting and forecasting with a proven ability to build effective working level relationships across functions including at a senior level. You have excellent communication skills both oral and written in order to communicate complex financial statements.

The Opportunity for the Visitor Centre Co-ordinator

We are currently recruiting for a Visitor Centre Co-ordinator for our Hartlepool Power Station. This role will be a full time position, working Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week.

What you’ll be doing as a Visitor Centre Co-ordinator


- As a Centre Co-ordinator you will be responsible for safely managing the daily operations of Hartlepool Power Station Visitor Centre.
- Responsible for the end-to-end management of bookings including making sure paperwork is submitted in a timely manner by visitors, managing the visits diary and calendar, and responding to all enquiries as they come in.
- Organising large groups of external visitors and ensuring they are briefed and understand EDF’s safety requirements whilst undertaking tours.
- Forward plan, organise, market and deliver an agreed annual visitor centre plan and community engagement programme, ensuring it’s aligned to the Nuclear Generation community liaison plan.
- Lead, develop and manage a team of station guides to meet the centre’s demand and to deliver a complete visitor experience.
- Maintain, manage and develop effective relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Maintain close coordination with other activities across the Company by participating in and reporting through Visitor Centre data.
- Develop classroom-based sessions which fit with the needs of the visitor groups (e.g. key stage activities for school groups).
- Develop volunteering and other community opportunities to promote the station in the community.
- Responsible for controlling spend against the Community/Visitor Centre budget.
- Lead on Community/charity engagement activities both internally and externally.
- Support external meetings with the local community where needed.
- Support station and Hartlepool Communications Lead with delivery of ad-hoc events and communications.

As a member of the Industrial Safety Team, you’ll be:

- Accountable for providing specialist industrial safety advice to line management and for the delivery of agreed targets
- Liaising with the internal and external Regulators on industrial safety matters
- Engaging with Industrial Safety Branch as a key stakeholder in the revision or production of industrial safety standards or guidelines for company wide application
- Participating in the Industrial Safety Peer Group network in the development and implementation of fleetwide continuous improvement initiatives and sharing of good practice.
- You will be required to maintain the Asbestos Register and liaise with external companies to ensure compliance
- You will be required to produce Significant Risk Permits
- Lead station on safety improvements and communicate best practice to peers and wider business
- Support the investigations of events


Who you are

For the Industrial Safety Engineer role, a relevant HNC in a technical discipline and Nebosh Certificate would be required, with you working towards the Nebosh Diploma. For the Assistant position, you will need a relevant HNC in a technical discipline as a minimum, preferably with a NEBOSH Certificate.

For both roles, it would be desirable if you:

- Are a member of the Institute of Occupational Safety & Health (MIOSH)
- Have knowledge of the HSE regulatory framework, as well as UK safety legislation relevant to nuclear power station operations and site licence requirements.
- Have knowledge of key industrial safety risks present within nuclear power stations supported by applicable control measures to mitigate risks would be beneficial, alongside
- Bring a detailed knowledge of company safety management systems and associated industrial safety standards, specifications and guidelines in place to provide safe systems of working within the power station environment.
- Experience working with the key processes, equipment systems and services used in nuclear power generation.

What you’ll be doing…

We’re looking for you to play a pivotal role in safeguarding our operations against cyber threats. As a Cyber Risk Manager, you'll support and enable senior executive stakeholders across our nuclear licensees to gain a comprehensive understanding of cyber risks to our information, IT, and plant systems—whether regulated or non-regulated. Your responsibilities will include:


- Tracking and reporting on risk management activities and decisions across our vast nuclear estate, ensuring seamless coordination of cyber security risk management reporting and associated metrics.
- Providing management and oversight of risk licensee management policies, processes, and procedures to maintain a robust risk management framework.
- Convening and chairing the Nuclear Cyber Security Risk Forums, where you'll establish a common working-level view of cyber risk positions consistent with our Nuclear Cyber Security Strategy and the EDF cyber target operating model.
- Promoting risk management to enhance licensee understanding of their exposure and inform investment decisions through cyber security forums.
- Serving as the secretary, supporting the heads of Nuclear Security and Cyber Security & Information Assurance, and chairing relevant cyber security communities of practice to bolster the work of the Cyber Risk Forums.
- Supporting the running and attendance of SIRO's Oversight Boards, ensuring that licensee SIROs grasp their respective risk positions and can make informed decisions regarding risk treatment.
- Assisting in the analysis and presentation of cyber risks across our nuclear licensees, collaborating with key stakeholders such as the Head of CS&IA, licensee BISOs, and the EDF UK Office of the CISO.
- Managing external contractors and suppliers to ensure the successful delivery of our key accountabilities.
